However, I will revisit the website in 2 weeks, and if they add the fact they charge an extra $8 for the cooler, I will change my rating to 3 stars.

Our family came for a weekend camping trip everything was absolutely amazing except for the train tracks behind out campsite which the train ran every two hours in the middle of the night.

Ok, the last negative thing I have to say is that they make you carry the tubes and $19 cooler with ice up an inclined dirt road at the end of your trip. Keep in mind, a guy with an ATV and empty trailer behind it will be waiting there to watch you carry everything up the hill. He won't help though...

The website seems to be linked in various places on the internet with James River Iced Tea Company which is located in Newport News, which made booking a little confusing, but no big deal really. The website does have one important omission, however...

I believe in ending everything on a positive note, so I will say this: The people there are very friendly. Very kind, apologetic people. I'm glad to have given them my business, but I won't be returning.

Aside from that, there is nothing in the way of safety along the river. If you get hurt while your out there, I hope you brought your phone, and have signal...

Just went there for the first time yesterday. Honestly, next time I want to tube the James River, I'll just bring my own supplies and launch at the free public landing (or maybe the nicer free public landing across the river).

Such a fun way to spend the afternoon! The company was very professional and had everything together when we arrived. Really appreciated the twine they offer to tie your tubes together so everyone can stay together.

We've camped here several times over the past 5 years. The Campground has no WiFi or hookups, which makes it the most peaceful camping experience. No Generators. No RV's. You're right on the River,. It's so pretty. I love it. If you want peace: come here.

My 9yr old son and I had a great time on our adventure!

Renting the cooler tube is $8, but renting the cooler itself is another $8. So essentially, the cooler tube is just a spare tube, until you spend another $8 and get the cooler. In my opinion, charging $16 to float a cooler behind you is obnoxious and is the main reason I wouldn't go back. Oh, want ice for your $16 cooler? $3 more please. That's $19 total just to float a cooler with ice...
